POLICE
ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE REMOVAL OF SNOW
AFTER FROM SIDEWALKS, PAVEMENT, OR WALKWAYS AFTER THE SNOW HAS
STOPPED FALLING
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF WYOMING:
Section I.
This ordinance shall set forth the rules governing the removal
of snow from sidewalks, pavement, or walkways within the limits
of Wyoming and the penalty schedule.
Section II.
It shall be unlawful for any owner or occupant of any premises
in the Town of Wyoming in front or by the side of which shall
be a sidewalk, pavement, or walkway to permit or allow snow to
remain thereon for a period longer than 48 hours after it has
ceased snowing. Enforcement of this ordinance shall be limited
to areas where the general public has access to the sidewalks,
pavement, and walkways.
Section III.
The Mayor of the Town of Wyoming or his designated agent shall
have the authority to have the snow removed from the sidewalk,
pavement, or walkway of the premises of any owner or occupant
in violation of this section. The owner or occupant shall pay
in addition to any fines the cost of such snow removal.
Section IV.
Violation of this ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of $25.00
for the first offense and a fine of no more then $50.00 for any
subsequent offenses. All fines accessed shall be paid within 30
days for the date of issue and made payable to the Town of Wyoming.
Section V.
Definitions
(1) Sidewalks: Walkways in
front of a premise that allow the general public
access to walk.
(2) Pavements: Driveways
that cross a sidewalk or walkway shall be included.
The entire driveway shall not be required to be cleared only the
section that
crosses the sidewalk or walkway.
(3) Walkways: Any area that
allows access to a residence that may pass between
two premises that allow access to an area at the end of the walk
or any area in
between.
SYNOPSIS
The purpose of this ordinance
is to set time limits and fines for the failure to remove snow
after the snow stops falling.
